Annual Robynn Goodell Blood Drive


The Robynn Goodell Memorial Blood Drive will be held on May 23, 2010 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the West Sacramento Fire Station #45 on Lake Washington Blvd. In honor of Robynn's kindness and generosity of helping others; friends and family will host a fund raiser bake sale with all proceeds donated to a cause that was dear to Robynn.

Rain & Hail & Funnel Clouds in May



Virtually everyone is talking about this crazy weather we are having...and even more rain is predicted for the next couple of days. According to the Sacramento Bee, late-season stormy weather dropped 10 to 14 inches of snow in the high country forcing a delay in the Amgen California Tour scheduled to start today In Lake Tahoe.

"Baseball Players: Batter and Pitcher" on West Capitol Avenue





Lisa Reinertson’s bronze sculpture, "Baseball Players: Batter and Pitcher" is on display on West Capitol Avenue across from City Hall. The sculpture, commissioned by Frank and Lee Luckenbill as part of their effort to establish professional baseball in the Sacramento region, is on temporary loan from The Crocker Art Museum. Maya stopped to make sure the pitcher's shoe was tied!

West Sacramento's Farmers Market Coming May 19th


West Sacramento Farmer’s Market opens Thursday, May 19, 4:30 p.m.-dusk, at 1271 West Capitol Avenue across from City Hall. The festival-style certified farmer's market will continue each Thursday evening thru September 2011. The Market will also have limited stall space for pre-screened local nonprofit groups.

Walk for the Cure: Team Garla & LLIK RECNAC



West Sacramento was well represented in the annual Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure. It was reported that over 25,000 people participated in the event held at Cal Expo on Saturday.
