All you can eat buffet at Round Table $6.99
Most of you will recognize Sally, the sign spinner for Round Table. She stands at the corner of Jefferson and Lake Washington Boulevards most afternoons and always has a smile and a wave for the passerbys.

"The Bunco Babes" a very special group of friends...
From left around the table: Diane, Bonnie, Cathy, Kathye, Mary (rear), Margie, Donna, Sarah, Luanne and Bev. Missing from this photo is Annie and yours truly 'cause I'm always taking the pix.
Our Bunco group has been meeting once a month for over 35 years, rotating hostess duties throughout the year. Most of us have our roots in West Sacramento and some have been friends since grammar school. We have supported each other through births & deaths, marriages & divorces, sickness & diets, career changes & retirements, kids & grandkids.....you name it! Our saddest day together was when we had to say bye to long-time Babe Cheri who passed away last November.

Horse Cow Gallery Update
Update July 18, 2009. The City of West Sacramento has closed down the Horse Cow Gallery for code violations...they are now in the process of moving to a new location in the Sacramento area. I'm sad to see this unique collective of people and things leave West Sacramento!

Red Door
When I was a kid many people painted their front door and/or front porch red. You don't see that style much anymore, and this house brought back many memories.

George Beale's Market Site
Some folks in West Sacramento will recognize this old storefront location that once housed the George Beale's General Store. Frank Norton worked for George Beale in the late 1930's and had his back broken when he was diving a company truck. Following surgery on his back he spent 6 months flat in bed to recover.

The Flamingo Hotel
In the summer of 1958 my family stayed at the Flamingo Motel while looking for housing in the West Sacramento area. My dad was already living here and my mom, brother and sister rode the train from Pocatello, Idaho. We were so amazed at the palm trees and the beautiful California weather and we swam from morning to night! Our folks took us across the street to eat dinner at the El Rancho Hotel or down the street to the Capitol Inn and there was usually a floor show and great music in the dining rooms.
