The world has lost one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. Jeanne Jones was the reason I joined the VFW in West Sacramento. She was a past auxiliary president, and she never forgot our birthday.
I know you’re flying with the angels now Jean. And if there is a bingo parlor or a kitchen in heaven, I know you’re there Working your tail off! Rest in peace, Jean. The following was posted on Facebook by her daughter Nancy Jones.
We were awakened early this am by the Hospice Care Home letting us know that Ma Jones had passed away at 3:42 am today at the age of 98. Jean Jones, who many people called "Ma Jones", was a wonderful "Light in the Storm" always helping others in need of help. She devoted much of her free time working to help Vets by cooking meals at the V.F.W. in West Sacramento. She enlisted a crew of dedicated volunteers to assist her in preparing meals for many Vets and local residents on a weekly basis that was attended and enjoyed by so many West Sac residents. Jean led a long full life and up until a week or two of her passing was still talking and remembering so much. Her mind was sharp and she was eating, talking some and very alert. She will definitely be missed in the community and by her family. Rest in Peace "Ma Jones" and know that you were loved and will be missed by your family and many friends who's lives you made happier with all your volunteer time over the years. My husband made a biography about her life and the file is here if you would like to read more about her.
