A closeup shot of our wonderful old I Street Bridge...The 3,150 ton swing span is the heaviest in the United States and was the heaviest in the world when the bridge was built in 1911. The upper deck of the bridge carries automobiles and the lower deck carries trains.

I wonder if they will do something special to celebrate it's 100th birthday next year.
Per Maureen Pascoe with the City of West Sacramento, the History Channel will be filming an episode of a new series about infrastructure this Friday...August 6, 2010 featuring the I Street Bridge!
