Raley Field: The 10th Anniversary of Breaking Ground
It is hard to believe that construction on Raley Field began 10 years ago today. The plaque below designates the location of the State Box Company. Many West Sacramento old timers will always remember the smell of the Presto Logs as they were being manufactured in their plant.

The NiƱa's real name was Santa Clara
Folks along the Sacramento River got a treat as the Nina replica sailed up-river to dock in Old Sacramento last year. "The NiƱa was by far Columbus' favorite".
The NiƱa is a replica of the ship on which Columbus sailed across the Atlantic on his three voyages of discovery to the new world beginning in 1492. Columbus sailed the tiny ship over 25,000 miles. That ship was last heard of in 1501, but the new NiƱa has a different mission. We are a floating museum, and we visit ports all over the United States."

The high point of the evening was when Pete Rossi owner of Vince's Italian Ristorante performed several operatic songs!
