The Wolf Moon

Thank you Vitit Kantabutra from Pocatello, ID for sharing the incredible shot (above) of our January 2010 "Wolf Moon" Full Moon.
Below is a shot of the Wolf Moon West Sacramento. By the time I had got my camera setup with lens, tripod, and checked the manual settings...the moon was sinking fast. I kind of liked this shot of the moon behind our neighbors tree.

The Wolf Moon is a full moon that occurs in January. The name comes from hungry wolf packs that would howl outside the villages of Native Americans. This full moon is also known as the Old Moon or the Moon After Yule.

USAF Thunderbirds: Here is Freedom!

West Sacramento resident Matt Hargrove took this photo of F-16 Fighting Falcon ("Viper"), USAF Thunderbirds flying overhead during the California Capitol Airshow at Mather Air Force Base.

"Air Force Week Sacramento
was celebrated from September 5 through 13, 2009 in various locations throughout Sacramento, California. Highlighted by performances from the USAF Thunderbirds and Tops in Blue, Air Force Week Sacramento put a spotlight on the great work being done by the folks stationed at Travis Air Force Base and around the Air Force."

Skywatching

Many thanks to Florene Kunder for sending us her Skywatch photo.

"This is the first time in years for excellent skywatching. After a very long drought, we've had some welcome rains, but not the destructive stormy type. If I had the time I could take pictures all day long! After a day of sunshine, following days of rain, we had this message from the heavens that more rain was coming..... and it did."

A Majestic Display

The sky was majestic this morning with bursts of sunbeams through the clouds. I feel it was a reminder that we not should let the bad news of the financial markets take away from the promise that each new day brings!
