River City High School relocated in 2009 to the beautiful new campus located on Jefferson Boulevard and Linden Avenue. Seems such a shame that the City of West Sacramento and Washington Unified School district can't get together to turn these fields into a sports complex/baseball park to benefit the kids in our City.

Washington Little League Volunteers Circa 1960
Thank you Linda Balakin Boerlin for sharing this great photo of some of the parents and volunteers working on the Washingon Little League ball field. Per Linda "This pic was in the News Ledger circa 1960’s. I believe it was a work party at the baseball diamond. I don’t know all the men but recognize Ernie Otten, Sam Tripp, Dave Meza, and possibly Don Kimbrell and Bob Horrel. The original Washington Little League Diamonds were located next door to the Broderick Post Office on Sacramento Avenue.
On Saturday, March 7th, 2015 at 9:00 AM there will be a Field Work Day at Washington Little League diamonds (Alyce Norman-Bryte Little League Fields at Todhunter and Carrie Street. Bring your shovels and garden tools with you if you are interested in giving them a hand. See more on their Facebook page. This year, the West Sacramento Little League will be inter-leaguing with Washington Little League
and also using the Washington Fields for many games since they have too
many teams to play only at Memorial Park.

Raider Nation!
Tom washed his Raider floor mats to bring his team luck. I've never been a great football fan but since we have been playing in a Fantasy Football League this season it is much more fun to spend our Sunday's in front of the TV!

The Salazar Brothers at the World Series
WS Natives Mark and Matt Salazar went to Game one of the World Series. Mark got interviewed and used as the model for an editorial cartoon. He said he emphasized “WEST” when telling them where he lived so they would get it right... They did. The quip “Giants in one,” is quintessential Salazar. Thanks Matt H....

West Sac Girls All Stars: 2010 District 6 Champions
De'Onna Jack shares these great pix from the West Sac Girls All Star playoff game. De'Onna comments: "I don't care who you are are where you are, this was a heck of a game. Wow! N.CA Dist 6 Little League Softball Gm 11-12 div. West Sac Girls vs Rio Linda Girls in Championship Gm. If Rio Linda wins they push it to an if game, if WS wins, it's all over & they win. Well, by the second inning, Rio Linda was ahead 8-0. WS came back and fought with so much heart, they tied the game in 5th inning, held Rio scoreless in 6th and came up bot of 6th, 1 out runner on 2nd & Alexis Bennie hits a shot, Jade scores, game over...West Sac Wins. 9-8...What a game. Hat's off to Rio Linda they played a heck of a game. Here is just one exciting picture of the Manager Mr Rob Dodd. MFGBDJ"
