Fountain in Target Plaza

You might have passed by the charming fountain and courtyard sitting area located in the Target Plaza with out even noticing it. We are hoping for some more retail tenants in that space soon so we can enjoy even more great shopping in West Sacramento!

The Crush Festival at The Galeria do Vinho

We bottled, corked and labeled our own wine, then joined in the grape stomping contest at the Old Sugar Mill's Crush Festival last weekend. These grapes were grown in West Sacramento and then made into wine by The Carvalho Family. Their Tempranillo is splendid!

The Key Corner: West Sac Downtown Locksmith

Probably the smallest business you'll find in West Sacramento is West Sac Downtown Locksmith located in the corner of the Raley parking lot on West Capitol Avenue. Easy to drive up, park and get a key made in minutes...and they also offer a full range of locksmith services.

Creative Archway

We enjoy driving though areas of West Sacramento to see how homeowners have become inspired to create landscape art. We saw this creative archway in the Bridgeway Island area recently.

Flag Memorial on Jefferson Boulevard

Thank you to Jean Sawitzky retired Postmaster (Courtland and Clarksburg, California) and a long-time resident of West Sacramento for sharing her photo of the flags displayed by local resident John Vinson. John has been erecting the flag memorial every year since the first anniversary of September 11th seven years ago.

Visiting Canada Geese on Fowler Road

Thank you to Joan Barber of West Sacramento for sharing this photo of the visiting Canada Geese out for a stroll on Fowler Road in the Bridgeway Island area. We have seen a lot of these visitors recently at our duck pond on Linden Avenue.

Trivia: "Canada geese are known for their seasonal migrations. Most Canada geese have staging or resting areas where they join up with others. Their autumn migration can be seen from September to the beginning of November. Adult geese are often seen leading their goslings in a line, usually with one parent at the front, and the other at the back."

"15 Days in October" is the City of West Sacramento's annual photo contest. This year, the contest is Oct. 1-15. Win $500! Residents and nonresidents are eligible to enter. Take a West Sacramento photo of your choosing between Oct. 1-15. This year, contestants have the option of entering an additional category, "Shop in West Sac". . .providing an extra opportunity to win $500. Celebrate the shopping and dining options in West Sacramento!

Supply Hardware on Harbor Boulevard has a great selection of equipment for rent, general supply items, gardening supplies, building products and redi-mix concrete. We stopped by recently to get our propane tank filled and browsed the aisles --we love hardware stores!

The food and music was great at the Colusa Crawdad Festival last weekend. Ron Bombardier and the Bayou Boys played some great Cajun Music--Ron's 3 years old grandson is already learning to play the Cajun Accordian. Many folks from West Sacramento who used to enjoy going to the Isleton Crawdad Festival were there dancing and enjoying great music.
